As an engineer and painter, Viola had the privilege of witnessing the controversial but very fruitful encounter between art and science. During his artistic career he has thoroughly studied and experimented with color and its laws in order to grasp the concept of the sublime. His pictorial language also encompasses lines rich in intensity and completeness. Since his first watercolors and later in his oil paintings, Franco Viola has created landscapes by combining reality and the inner world. He tries to transfer the emotion and the sublime of the untouched reality on the canvas. A continuous process that accompanies thoughts about the nature of painting in the age of modernity and its relationship with place, time and the ever-changing social and human conditions. It is a rethinking of nature, in the context of a cognitive and emotional flow.
