According to the Duden dictionary, the “Zeitgeist” is the characteristic general attitude, mindset, and mentality of a particular historical period. So how can a Zeitgeist be timeless when it describes the exact opposite? By artistically preserving the memory of this Zeitgeist in such a way that the memory is a beautiful one.

Hardly any other term describes the creation of art as well as the Zeitgeist. In every idea, in every brushstroke, in every photograph, in every dance, reflects what the artist perceives as their own Zeitgeist in that moment. They can represent the mainstream of a time or the complete antithesis, a rebellion. And even the material level has Zeitgeist: Which materials were even available during which epoch? Which were particularly popular? What kind of painting was appreciated, which was frowned upon?

In short: Art is the represented Zeitgeist

30 years after the founding of HEITSCH GALLERY, it is now time for the next big step – indeed, a large one. At the end of May, we will close the doors of our gallery spaces at Gärtnerplatz and focus on a concept that has been in the works for a long time:

WE ARE GOING DIGITAL AND TOTALLY GLOBAL.

The way art is presented to the customer has changed drastically in the last 10 years. Buyers and collectors want an experience that we can only provide if we look beyond the horizon and create moments that go beyond a fixed sales space.

To enable this, HEITSCH GALLERY is becoming HEART – a fusion of HEITSCH and ART, expressing our love for the most beautiful thing in the world. With the help of our global network, HEART will function as an international art consultancy based in Munich and at Lake Tegernsee, focusing on the sale of primary and secondary art, collection building, exhibition curation, and the creation of pop-up experiences.
